Does "CISSP Retired" Still Exist?

Andrea,

Does the member status of CISSP Retired still exist?

If so, where on the (ISC)2 web site is there any information about it?

When I search the www.isc2.org site for the bundled term "CISSP Retired" or just the word "retired" the only search results shown are courses offered by (ISC)2, but no pages on the site. [Please note this as an apparent shortcoming of the site search feature.]

Before the end of this year I must decide whether to continue full certification, allow my certification to lapse and thus resign my (ISC)2 membership, or (if it is still available) move to a CISSP Retired to retain membership.

Using Google to search for

site://www.isc2.org "CISSP Retired"

results in the page

https://www.isc2.org/Certifications/CISSP/CISSP-Retired

However, I cannot trust that page as current since it is not obviously linked on the main site pages, and has no currency or last-updated date on the page. Further, I have learned that most large websites leave expired pages available that can be found by a Google site search, but are no longer valid. Thus, it is not reasonable to trust as currently valid pages found via Google without confirmation through that site's own search or link structure.

Here is the official Retired Status page under Member Policies. Click on the Retired Status policy at the bottom.

Thank you for the quick response.

Here are added observations to help your research:

1. Finding the page you linked is non-trivial and definitely non-intuitive. Recalling that a site search does not lead to it, here are the steps I had to trace to find it after seeing your link:

a. Link to the home page, www.isc2.org

scroll to the very bottom to click on Quicklinks - Policies and Procedures

b. Click on

(ISC)² Member Policies

(This gets to the page you linked).

2. Going to the information page I had found using the external Google search,

https://www.isc2.org/Certifications/CISSP/CISSP-Retired

you will see a linking line

Download the CISSP Retired Status Application Form

but clicking there leads to a file-not-found page,

https://www.isc2.org/-/media/ISC2/Documents/cissp-retired-status-application.ashx?la=en&hash=F8BF81595F6C5022A1E42846E4BFF9770FC67FC5

which indicates that info page is, as I had been concerned, no longer current or valid.

I was going to write a response to what Craig Shelton had written but he really did a great job in summarizing what my issue was with the CPE requirement hurdles and the (IMO) draconian measures that ISC2 has in restricting usage of this hard won certification. I am currently employed and use my CISSP knowledge every day and have to take training on new tools and initiatives to stay current and provide the expected service to my employer. I stayed current with my dues and tried to keep up with CPE credits but could not. I will retire in the next few years and a "CISSP (Retired)" tagline would be great as I would like to provide help to the community in CyberSecurity as this help is greatly needed as the "arms race" continues to evolve. I would really like the ability to use the tag "CISSP Retired" in the future given the effort it takes to stay current and effective in this profession.

I recently had a conversation about the retired status policy and it reminded me to report back to you all here.

Retired status is specifically for those members who are no longer employed/in a contract position for monetary gain. You may still practice in the sense of volunteering, participate in forums like this Community, educate yourself/others, etc. If you have further questions regarding your specific situation, please contact member support at https://www.isc2.org/Contact-Us.

(ISC)² Retired Status is now officially (ISC)² Emeritus Status.

The updated policy is located here titled “(ISC)² Emeritus Status Policy” https://www.isc2.org/Policies-Procedures/Member-Policies and is also available on the Member Resources page (behind member login).

The policy explains the process and requirements for obtaining Member Emeritus designation. If you have further questions that are not answered in the policy, you may email membersupport@isc2.org.
