AFAIK, there is no such thing.

You become an ISC2 member, and obtain a member ID, when you pass an ISC2 certification examination and pay the AMF fees, either to become an Associate of ISC2 or become a fully certified member.

In fact, I've not come across ANY organization that had a "non-member" ID. Its kind of a contradiction in terms. If you're not a member, you don't get an ID.

Actually, a non-member ID does kind of make sense. You don't become a member
until you pass and get endorsed. But as soon as you contact ISC2 in any official
way they issue you your number. So, in a sense, from the time you first contact
ISC2 until you actually pass, you *do* have a non-member ID number ...

(This came up on the CISSPforum a few times, when people who had contacted
but then delayed taking the exam turned out to have lower cert numbers than
those who had taken the exam quickly.)

If that is what is being referred to I think it's termed a candidate ID (before it becomes a member ID) rather than a non member ID.

You can create yourself an ISC2 account and be assigned a candidate ID by clicking on the "sign in" button on the main ISC2 site and then choosing to create a new account.

Although, given the number of people we see complaining here on the Community that they have duplicate accounts that need to be merged before they can go through endorsement doing this might prove to be problematic later down the line.

I also don't see the benefit of doing this unless you care about getting as low a candidate / member ID as possible. All you can do is register for training (which you can do anyway), and be kept up-to-date with the latest from ISC2 (which you can do anyway).

If you create an account with Pearson VUE and register to take an exam, that ID # is your candidate ID # and will become your member ID # if you pass. I hope this helps!

I just tested this and created a dummy account on the ISC2 site and in the profile it does show the term "ISC2 Non-member ID".

So, as you say, a candidate ID can only be created by registering an account with Pearson VUE. That does beg the question, how do so many people end up with multiple accounts that need to be merged?

I believe some of the multiple account issues come down to multiple email addresses. You can create an account on isc2.org without having registered for an exam or having a certification - but that ID # doesn't tie to an (ISC)2 certification, obviously, since you don't have one.

Just curious why they merge the accounts? Why not just tell them to use the account that was registered for them by Pearson VUE and has the exam pass associated with it?

The issue comes when someone creates an account on our site and then later a Pearson VUE account - that doesn't acknowledge an account has been made here. Or the same person creates accounts with multiple email addresses. We can't have duplicate humans in our system. Why the merging process is so complicated, though, I do not know.

I do wonder what is the point of allowing people to register their own accounts when they inevitably cause problems later down the line due to duplication? However, I suspect the answer is related to selling training courses.

Member-ID, Non-Member-ID, Candidate-ID, ISC2-ID .... they are all the same thing and can be found by logging into www.isc2.org and selecting "my profile".

I suspect that if they required single-signon with pearsonvue.com that much of the duplicate-id issues would go away.

They definitely need to find a way of eliminating all these issue with merging duplicate accounts.

Was not a problem for me years ago. I think the trick is that I answered yes to "Do your know your ISC2 ID?". My guess is that if you have one, but do "not know" it, you will end up with a duplicate. Thanks, @AlecTrevelyan for making me think about this further. It caused me to realize we have another trick we can offer to those not getting notifications....

Login to PersonVue and go to the profile page. In another window, login to (ISC)² and go to thier profile page (it's in the "Hi, <your name>" menu). On both, make sure the following fields match:

(ISC)² ID (sometimes called member id, candidate id, etc.). It is a number with about 6 digits, but can be more or less.
First, Middle and Last names on both sites match your government ID.
(ISC)² Primary email matches PearsonVue email.

After registered the exam I got mail with the order details but in that it shows candidate ID: ID pending, so it will affect my examination while going to center, or we must provide it on the website but where it is anybody can help me with that.

So in that I am having Non-member ID that's enough to attend the exam right ??
And claiming the free exam voucher users will have the free for one more attempt is it there ?? For the Certified in Cybersecurity

As long as you schedule and take your exam by October 31, 2022 you will be eligible for a retake option before December 31, 2022.

To claim your free retake, please email examadministration@isc2.org after your unsuccessful exam attempt. Please provide your initial exam results letter and be advised that you must wait 30 days after your first exam for your retake.
