Yet another oddity. The spelling check function.

I was just doing a post, and typed "havaen't" by mistake. The editor seemed to accept it as a valid English word. (When I typed it just now, it gave me the red wavy underline briefly, but, as soon as I moved on, it cleared up.)

I have previously noted the difficulties with the "quote" function. An additional problem is that as you scroll past any "at sign" (I really hesitate to stick the actual "@" in there, for fear it will create more problems) in the editor, it assumes you want to refer to a "community" member, and "helpfully" a) brings up a choice/dialogue box so you can choose someone to add, and b) adds another "@" into the text at that point. (Some of you may have noted up to four "@"s in some quotes in my postings.) Sometimes the choice/dialogue box refuses to go away, and sort of locks the editor (since you can't do anything else until the box goes away).

I've just tried to edit one of my postings to clarify it, and remove the link to the archived message referred to there (which I had to drop into HTML to do). When I checked the post after editing, I found that the system had, once again, "helpfully," turned the URL into a link, again. I went back to the posting again, into HTML, deleted the link on the second URL manually, and saved/reposted. The editor turned it back into a link.

o/' You can edit any time you like, but you can never delete!

Welcome to the Hotel Comm-Ooon-It-Tee! o/'

In my case (Chrome on Windows), the spell checker is part of my browser, not part of the web site.
