Be afraid of the future. Be very afraid of Boston Dynamics. They are "Cyberdyne Systems". Watch their robot family dance like 2020 was a good year. Robotic armies? Armageddon? Science fiction? That stuff never comes true... or does it?

There's a reason they make most of their models look like dogs. "Oh, look at the
nice puppy dog!"

Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggy!" until you can find an EMP.

====================== (quote inserted randomly by Pegasus Mailer)
rslade@gmail.com rmslade@outlook.com rslade@computercrime.org
So much complexity in software comes from trying to make one
thing do two things. - Ryan Singer
victoria.tc.ca/techrev/rms.htm http://twitter.com/rslade
http://blogs.securiteam.com/index.php/archives/author/p1/
https://community.isc2.org/t5/forums/recentpostspage/user-id/1324864413

Last I checked Atlas runs through its battery pack in about 20 minutes. It could (will) be weaponized when we get battery packs with 10 times the energy density. I understand Spot (the dog) gets over 4 hours from its batteries and can replace them itself. So closer to industrial applications ... maybe we could get Boston Dynamics to give red glowing eyes when is it programmed to be "Bad Spot" for a truly SciFi experience.

Now is the time to legislate / enforce: 1) Asimov's Three Laws, 2) guaranteed secure operational code and 3) a publicly accessible "off" switch.
