Hi all,

I'm working on a quarterly report for the C Level. One of the metrics in the report is how effective our email filtering service is doing. I have the numbers of what is blocked and delivered, but I would also like to estimate how many hours saved we enjoy due to the removal of, nearly 50% of email deemed Spam/Fraud. Anyone know of public studies on how much time it would take users, on average, to filter this email themselves.

Searches show some estimates of "up to 3 hrs per week". How accurate do you all think this is?

Several years ago, @TrickyDicky , @Caute_cautim and I put together a paper on metrics (attached).

I have seen studies that suggest as high as a 10 hour per week per individual (25% of a 40 hour work week) for professional organisations. So the number you suggest could be appropriate for you. Having presented to many levels of management on Metrics, be prepared to be challenged on any or all of them. There is always skepticism when you try to promote productivity savings. You can justify this one using industry states, minimizing interruptions, quicker handling time, and potentially reducing unproductive time.
