Hi All

Well someone did some delving into the background of TikTok these are their findings?

Feel safe using TikTok?

https://www.boredpanda.com/tik-tok-reverse-engineered-data-information-collecting/?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organic

Regards

Caute_cautim

John @Caute_cautim asked, "Feel safe using TikTok?"

Of course not; never have, never will. The linked article exposes the depth of data gathering and subterfuge built into TikTok, but does not even mention the likelihood that the data gathered by the app for ByteDance is highly likely to be made available to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or Chinese government organizations.

Sadly, we already know that, for the general public app-user population the factors determining usage are cost (free!), functionality (ooooh, dancing pigs!), popularity (all my friends ... [cliff jumping?]), and ease of use (User Experience / UsEx). Privacy just does not matter. Spying matters not at all. This observation has been proven over and over with FakeBook, Z00M, Tweater, InstaCram, and even back in the Dork Ages of the pre-WWW net with mIRC.

Craig
