I
> Then had some health issues and ended up at a different firm and my CISSP was
> not a requirement. Its been several years now (like 7) and I am loking to take
> the exam gain.. So Honestly, and since I am stil activly in the security
> field (just for financial firms instead of DoD now) I believe just a book to
> refresh for the CBK would suffice.

Probably. The CISSP tends to be long term, so you likely just need an overview.

I'd recommend "Security Engineering," by Ross Anderson, which you can brush up
with online (although it's well worth buying as a reference and reminder).
http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/book.html

You can also brush up on the type and style of questions you'll be facing at
https://community.isc2.org/t5/E/P/m-p/18626

======================
rslade@gmail.com rmslade@outlook.com rslade@computercrime.org
"If you do buy a computer, don't turn it on." - Richards' 2nd Law
"Robert Slade's Guide to Computer Viruses" 0-387-94663-2
"Viruses Revealed" 0-07-213090-3
"Software Forensics" 0-07-142804-6
"Dictionary of Information Security" Syngress 1-59749-115-2
"Cybersecurity Lessons from CoVID-19" CRC Press 978-0-367-68269-9
============= for back issues:
[Base URL] site http://victoria.tc.ca/techrev/
CISSP refs: [Base URL]mnbksccd.htm
PC Security: [Base URL]mnvrrvsc.htm
Security Dict.: [Base URL]secgloss.htm
Security Educ.: [Base URL]comseced.htm
Book reviews: [Base URL]mnbk.htm
[Base URL]review.htm
Partial/recent: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/techbooks/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Slade
https://is.gd/RotlWB http://twitter.com/rslade
http://blogs.securiteam.com/index.php/archives/author/p1/

Back when I did take the exam originally I took a bootcamp and used the Shon Harris book.. not sure if this is even relevant any longer as a prep guide..

Personally, the best materials are the official materials. I found the Official Study guide to be the most helpful, even though it takes quite a bit of time to get through.

However, he biggest thing that helped IMHO is all the tests and practice questions - specifically Sybex (Wiley / Official Guide) and the Official Practice Tests. CISSP for Dummies also had questions, and you can get even more if you buy All-in-One.

There are quite a few online offerings available (Surepass, Boson). However, I didn't need any of those to pass, so can't speak to them.

You can read more about my entire experience if you'd like for more context.

https://community.isc2.org/t5/CISSP-Study-Group/Passing-the-CISSP-My-Experience-Oct-2021/m-p/48366#M129

Hope that helped.  Good luck!
