What impact do changes on CISSP exam after May 1 will have on (ISC)² training materials?

Hello community,

As we all now, starting from May 1, 2021 CISSP Exam will change. I have a question not found on the FAQ: Will the books change ? I mean on FAQ it is saying that "An update to the Official (ISC)² CISSP Training Course (classroom-based and online-instructor led) will be available in May 2021."

What about : (ISC)2 CISSP Certified Information Systems Security Professional Official Study Guide, 8th Edition - Whiley or other books ? Since I want to purchase the book but if there will be changes it want worth it

OK, the answer that I really *want* to give to this is:

Yes! As of May 1st, 2021, all the printed books will change. This includes all
versions back to "The Official Guide to the CISSP Exam," which was the first
guide ISC2 actually printed, but they had to change the name after the CISSP got
the ISO certification. The change takes place at midnight on April 31st, local
time, so please do not be studying at that time, as the letters on the page will be re-
arranging. All non-ISC2 books will also be changing at that time, including Krutz
and Vines, but not the "CISSP Examination Textbooks," which are the worst
books I have ever reviewed, and the only ones of which I say if you bought it,
don't read it.

However:

In reality, the books, and the CBK, don't change very much over time. I have just
gone through the exercise of reviewing my own seminar materials (preparing for
doing a seminar in a few weeks https://www.nyit.edu/events/CISSP_boot_camp ),
and comparing against the CBKs and course materials from various vendors going
back more than twenty years, and right up to the most recently posted content.
The vast bulk doesn't change at all, because the most important stuff is the
fundamentals and base concepts, which don't modify with the latest buzzwords and
security fads. Do not worry about having the "latest and greatest." Understanding
is far more important than the latest fad. (I recall the *huge* interest in "security
blueprints" around 2005-ish. Anybody else even *remember* security blueprints?)
