I have my exam scheduled for next week Friday. I am on the last stages of studying. It's pretty much addressing gaps, and taking practice questions.

If you're in the US, you can take advantage of free LinkedIn Learning and Udemy through your local library. Since I discovered that, I have not had to pay.

My study plan was simple; test after each domain. My practice tests are LinkedIn - all four tests, Udemy Paulo and Andre, and the Pearson Vue test. I took Mike Chapple's course but he skipped over somethings, and ended up finding them out by doing these practice tests.

I tried taking Thor Pederson's course, but couldn't finish it as it was just pure overkill.

Praibh Nair on youtube is good. Professor Messer helped me understand the basics.

I have also discovered keywords and how to associate them when answering questions. My goal is not understand and not to cram.

Know your ports, the OSI model and how it fits on the TC/IP model. Know which devices work on which layer.

Mnemonics also help. For example, Please Do Not Throw Sausage Pizza Away is equal to Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application layers of the OSI from 1-7.

Know the difference between On Prem, IAAS, PAAS, SAAS and how to identify them in a question.

All People Seem To Need Data Processing

Application Presentation Session Transport Data link, Physical OSI 7-1

By taking the tests over and over, I was able to identify my weakest domain and where my confusion of terms were.

I also took exam mode and did not go back on questions to get myself used to CAT format.

Good luck.

I don't know if this helps. I sure can't wait to get this over with.

Hello Hello @mdouble2 ,

Thank you so much for sharing. I also got Mike Chappel’s material and began the study yesterday from chapter 1. Looks like a lot to cover, but I am keeping the motivation on. I intend to proceed with the test when I have covered enough. Don't know if this is the best practice, but I'm only trying to take it one step at a time, so as not to get overwhelmed.

I just downloaded Praibh Nair's videos on YouTube, as you spoke about. I will watch them tonight. TBVH, I don't know what structure works best, but I will say, I admire your study style— study, then take a test on each domain, brilliant! I think I will adopt this starting today/tomorrow— because I am considering watching Praibh Nair’s Video, tonight, and I could test the domain I complete tonight. Whew!

Also, I have saved all your tips for study.

Thank you once again for sharing! How best do we stay connected? Can you, kindly, share your email address (or any point of contact you are comfortable with) for better communication on how to proceed with the study group?

I believe you can click on my profile to send a private message. I don't want to put my email here. Since my exam is on Friday, it's no use joining a study group for me. One other thing that helped me was AI. I used Claude and asked it to create a study plan for me giving it my exact date. You can use your AI of choice.

I also let it know what Domains I struggled with most. The big Domains were broken into two days for study.

I also plan on writing LinkedIn posts that I think may help anyone taking this exam. I have one scheduled for Tuesday. My next one will be on controls.

One thing I also learnt is to slow down. I am still working on it. So far my my Udemy test started at a 72% for all Domains. A retest at 96% after addressing my gaps. My LinkedIn test was 90%. I did CAT mode not going back.
There are still three more LinkedIn tests. I will take the Pearson Vue prep test close to the exam day.

If you keep testing at 80 or higher in the prep tests, it means you're ready.

Just make sure you understand it.
I also use a lot of Index cards lumping them per domain.

Mnemonics help me quite a bit. For example for Incident Response, I use Please Don't Cry Every Recovery's Long
P Preparation
D Detection
C Containment
E Eradication
R Recovery
L Lessons learned aka Post Incident Activity
Claude gave me that mnemonic when I failed a few questions on Incident response.
There's PAPA for ISC2 Canons and Please Do Not Take Sausage Pizza Away for the OSI model from Layer 1 to 7. And All People Seem To Need Data Processing OSI Layer 7 to 1.

One thing that confused me was the Cloud models. The video below helped me.

https://youtu.be/36zducUX16w?si=pb8NJvySi5K26761

Good luck!
