@Mshofique if you have 12 years of IT experience, you should see if you can leverage that to obtain the CISSP certification, which would be more helpful in getting a position then the CC.

I agree that it does sound like you have enough experience for the CISSP, but it's a great first step to take the CC course and exam. Once you're CC-certified, you'll have a good understanding of what ISC2 exams are like, and have access to the benefits of membership, like 20% off certification training and other options.

You might find then that you're ready for the CISSP exam!

@Kaity I am happy to mention, this morning i passed my ISC2 CC exam!!

@Kaity @emb021 Additionally, based on what I have been told, you need to part of a particular company for 10 years before you can take the CISSP exam. I would love to obtain it so i may progress in my career.

YOU HAVE BEEN MISINFORMED!!!

The experience requirements are clearly stated on the website:
"have at least five years of cumulative, paid work experience in two or more of the eight domains of the ISC2 CISSP Exam Outline."

NOTHING about being in the same company for 10 years!!

The 8 domains are:
Domain 1. Security and Risk Management
Domain 2. Asset Security
Domain 3. Security Architecture and Engineering
Domain 4. Communication and Network Security
Domain 5. Identity and Access Management (IAM)
Domain 6. Security Assessment and Testing
Domain 7. Security Operations
Domain 8. Software Development Security

Several of these are domains that people who aren't necessarily cybersecurity professionals are doing. As a sysadmin I was doing several of them (asset security, IAM, security assessment & testing, etc.

@emb021 Thank you for the details. I did notice this after writing on the thread. I guess previously, I was miss informed. I will look into seeing if I am able to take this exam, as well.

@Kaithy I am looking forward in taking the CCSP, not having any cloud security experience, would there be any issues me obtaining the certification after the exam?
