How to start in Cybersecurity field

Hi. I'm new here.

I just passed CC a few days ago, but I'm not sure where to begin looking for a job or opportunity in the Cybersecurity industry.

I graduated from medical school (yes, I'm a doctor), but I'm also engaged in cybersecurity.

Do you have any recommendations for me? What else do I need to do?

It very much depends on the part of cybersecurity you want to work in. I'd suggest you start by looking at the roles in cybersec so that you can target your efforts. For example, this is a little old, but you'd probably want to look at the overall labour market:

Well, the situation you are in is probably a bit like where you were before you entered medical school. Security is a broad and deep as medicine. There are a host of directions you can go in. Unlike medicine, however, we don't have a really good system of education, interning, etc. (which may be why you asked your question!).

Where you work now likely has CISO or equivalent. I would talk to him or her. I would think they would love to have someone like you on their side if not their team. If you don't have that person (maybe you are a small office etc.), seek them out. Look for the CISO at a big provider. Trust "doctor interested in security" will get you at least a chat on the phone or a coffee. If I were in their shoes, I'd try to leverage you for security awareness training for doctors and staff. I'd also tap you to help with policy development.
