Put simply, this means that humans' brains are wired differently, and those differences can have a direct impact on an individual's thinking and learning. These differences are often diagnosed as neurological conditions."

...

Hope this helps?

Yes, that does help greatly! Thank you. And now with the context, I have in mind how key characters on The Big Bang Theory reflect a surprisingly accurate depiction of the genius that can exist on the spectrum.

@Caute_cautim wrote:

@CraigS, having watched your session on Supply Chain Attacks via Linkedln, I now have a little more understanding of your diverse background. It was a good talk, by the way, well presented. https://rumble.com/vedre7-modeling-the-supply-chain-trust-but-verify-iccws-2020.html

Thank you, John, I must credit the many co-authors of the paper, led by a grad student Theresa Sobb and her advisor Benjamin Turnbull at U. of New South Wales, AU. I just happened to be the only one of the team who was able to get to the conference in Norfolk last year as the world was just learning about the breadth of the building pandemic. If you or @CraigS are interested, the paper abstract is at ProQuest, and I can send you the full paper directly if you wish.

As for my speckled background, I've just added the page A bit a bout me to my newly re-hosted and rebuilt blog, which may give you a better picture.

@CraigS sorry about the confusion. Cragin is my given name (explained in the above linked page) but it is just enough unusual that I use both it and Craig interchangeably.

"If everyone is thinking the same weay then someone is not thinking " - General George S Patton

Hi Caute_cautim,

Good on you for posting this. I have been doing lectures on Neurodiversity to MBA cohorts for about 18 months now and the feedback has been consistently that it has been one of the most influential topics in their entire MBA year.

The first point is that in any field or domain that requires a high degree of creative or independent thinking, there will always be clusters of neurodivergent people already - many of whom will have no idea to what extent they think and learn differently to most people. I focus on trying to encourage businesses to not only recognise this, but to enable these people to work on change from the inside of the organisation out (rather than the outside in approach many organisations are providing services for).

As a couple of examples, people might be interested to know that the GCHQ in the UK appear to have a public preference for Dyslexic people in the cryptography space and I have heard rumours of at least one countrys' cyberwarfare group being almost exclusively Autistic. It tends to be the organisations that are focussed more on outcomes than image, if that makes any sense.

If anyone wants to learn more and have their mind blown, I am happy to run you through a 1 hour lecture which I can guarantee to blow your mind - with me doing this for free, you have a 100% money back guarantee (ha!) and no, there's no sales pitch. It's something I know as a manager and leader is an essential piece of understanding.

Hi,

I have found with this one thats its better done live than recorded. Quite often it can raise issues for people who need to be pointed to the right resources ( tip - these are organisations and groups which do not use the the puzzle piece on their website).

I have had everything from people wanting to talk about someone they fired through to their neice/nephew or even people starting to wonder if they themselves might be neurodivergent. I feel its important to ensure that if these things come up, that they can be pointed in a constructive direction.

This is particularly important right now as even just a google on Autism brings up the first to pages of google results which largely consist of grossly exploitative Autism industry organisations which often have a grossly skewed perception of autism which focuses on boys, not adults.

I will say this though, having self aware neurodivergent people on your teams is a natural innoculation against groupthink.

⁣Get BlueMail for Android
